日本から Podcast を配信する場合、著作権の巨大な壁に阻まれて、自由に音楽を流す事ができません。世の中にはフリーの音楽素材を扱うサーヴィスが幾つもありますが、そういう曲って正直あまりカッコよくない、と言うか「いかにもフリー素材」な出来である事が多くて、今ひとつテンションが上がらないんです。以前は「Podcast の父」とも呼ばれていたアダム･カリーさんが、「Podsafe Music Network（のちに MusicAlley と改名）」というサーヴィスを運営なさっていて、そこに登録されていた音楽はすべて Podsafe Music（ポッドキャストで使ってもオッケーな曲）だったので、われわれ配信者は、いちいち許諾をとる必要もなく、気に入った音楽をそこからダウンロードして自由に流す‥‥というまさに夢のような環境で番組を作る事ができていたんですが、残念ながらそのサーヴィスも数年前に消滅し、いきなり路頭に迷った子羊のような状態になってしまいました。
で、あわててネットを探し回った結果、すべての曲が「Creative Commons License」で提供されている「JAMENDO」というサーヴィスに出会いました。実は、これに似たサーヴィスは世界中に幾つもあるんですが、サーヴィスによって得意とする音楽ジャンルや曲のクオリティーに偏りがあったり、曲が見つけやすかったり見つけにくかったり、といった差があり、いろいろ検討した結果、僕には JAMENDO が１番シックリ来たので、それ以来ほぼ JAMENDO 一択のような感じで愛用しています。

When delivering podcasts from Japan, you can not play music freely, being blocked by the huge wall of copyright. There are many services that deal with free music materials in the world, but there are many cases that such songs are honestly not so cool, and many things can be done as "anything free material", and now the tension does not rise further. Actually, there are many services similar to this, but there are differences such as bias in the quality of music genres and songs that we are good at by services, difficulty in finding songs and difficulties to find, etc. As a result of examination, JAMENDO came to the No. 1 for me, so I have been using it almost like a JAMENDO choice ever since.
