「テキスト読み上げ機能」自体は目新しいものではないので、筆者もその機能を使って、自分の書いた文章を Mac に読み上げさせ、その音声を使って番組を作った事がありますが、今回発表された「Amazon Polly plugin for WordPress」は、Amazon の音声変換サーヴィス「Polly」を使うことで、今まで以上に「活き活きとした自然な音声」が得られるそうです。しかも「Polly」には「翻訳機能」も備わっており、書いた文章を他の言語で喋らせる事も可能なんだとか。
音声化されたコンテンツは、ブログ上でストリーミング再生できるようですが、その音声をポッドキャストで配信する場合は、このプラグインの「Pollycast」という機能を使う事で、配信用のフィードに記述する iTunes タグをコントロールする事が可能のようです。
